Interferences, or voltage peaks, arise on the power grid when switching an electrical device on or off. However, the interferences can also be induced by industry in the neighbourhood or elevators in the building, etc. Computers, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, power drills, and several other devices connected to the power grid can cause interferences.
Large interferences are of course audible but several smaller disturbances also interfere with the equipment. These smaller interferences cannot be heard. They can sometimes create bugs on some digital devices (CD player, DVD, etc.).
Moreover, a low distortion on the mains supply is difficult to detect, even if it induces harmful effects on the sound restitution of the Hi-Fi system.
The Essential Audio Tools Noise Eater is a parallel filter. This means that the power current that powers your audio equipment does not go through components of the filter. Indeed, the filter only “monitors” the mains supply and absorbs distortion signals, without restricting the current.
The circuit of the Noise Eater is specifically made to ensure that it has no impact on the timbre or sound restitution.
The Noise Eater comes in the form of a Schuko power outlet bigger than the average. The shell of the Noise Eater is a solid piece of POM-C milled by a CNC lathe.
The circuit itself was poured into resin to prevent it from vibrating.
Like the Pulse Protector, this Essential Audio Tools Noise Eater also has to be placed next to your equipment, preferably in the same power strip as where the audio devices are also connected.
The Noise Eater is not sensitive to phase so you can simply plug it in the socket. It can be used for devices like CD players, digital to analogue converters (DAC), tuners, phono stages, and amplifiers, even very large ones!
Using several Noise Eaters in one socket is, in most cases, useless. However, if you have several power strips, using the Noise Eater in each is a good idea…
The Essential Audio Tools Noise Eater eliminates interferences and the noises on the mains supply.
It does not seem to modify the quality nor the characteristics of the initial sound restitution. However, the silence is better respected. Moreover, the transparency is better, especially in the high end of the spectrum.
The quality/price ratio of this Essential Audio Tools Noise Eater is remarkable! Highly recommended!Franck
