This new Pro-Ject Phono Box DC phono preamplifier is the replacement for the manufacturer's famous Phono Box 2. This affordable product is dedicated to entry-level and midrange vinyl turntable models, though Pro-Ject has not compromised on the quality.
Pro-Ject Phono Box DC: casing
The housing is crafted in a metal that is not very sensitive to vibration and completely insensitive to electromagnetic interference.
The front panel boasts a beautiful brushed aluminium natural or black finish. There are two gold-plated RCA pairs on the back, a ground plug and a switch to select between moving coil and moving magnet (MC/MM).
The dual mono architecture accommodates state-of-the-art components. The ICs integrated circuits were specifically selected for their musicality and low noise and distortion. The RIAA correction is very precise. The output stages have a very low impedance that guarantees a broad frequency response and great transparency.
Pro-Ject Phono Box DC: power supply
Like all the products of the new range of Pro-Ject, it features a new ground-breaking 18 VDC power supply. It has been coined 'green' because its standby is lower than 1 watt.
Pro-Ject Phono Box DC: listening and review
The sound is detailed and punchy. The sonic performance is very neutral, allowing for a very varied combination of vinyl turntables and Hi-Fi cartridges.
This Pro-Ject Phono Box DC phono preamp can be more physical with rock and blues music and more melodic for classical music.
Yet another top product for Pro-Ject. Great job! Franck
