This small unit is the Austrian manufacturer's new entry-level preamplifier. Despite its affordable price, Pro-Ject has not compromised on the development of this phono preamplifier MM DC.
Pro-Ject MM DC: casing
The housing is crafted in a metal that is not very sensitive to vibration and completely insensitive to electromagnetic interference. Its internal dual mono architecture uses very low noise audio integrated circuits.
The RCA connectors are gold-plated.
Pro-Ject MM DC: power supply
As for the entire Pro-Ject range, this phono preamp MM DC is fitted with a new 18 VDC power supply unit. It is coined 'green' because its standby consumption is lower than 1 watt.
Pro-Ject MM DC: associations
For economic reasons, it is only compatible with moving magnet cartridges.
It is specifically dedicated to the most widespread turntables such as the Essential and Debut or equivalent models from competitors such as Thorens, Nad, Dual, etc. It is also designed to be paired with Hi-Fi or video amplifiers without a phono input.
The Pro-Ject MM DC phono preamplifier is also available as a package with the Pro-Ject Essential manual vinyl turntable and the Audioquest Evergreen interconnect cable (1m): Pro-Ject Starter Essential Pack.
Pro-Ject MM DC: listening and review
The music is vibrant and transparent and is as good as the phono sections that come standard with entry-level and midrange amplifiers.
