Japanese manufacturer Furutech's AG-12 cables are the entry-level range. However, they are just as good as the most elaborate models in terms of technology and craft quality. The conductors are made of high purity oxygen free copper (OFC) that has undergone a silver electrolysis process. Four layers of shielding are applied to overcome noise and interference issues. The conductors are insulated with very airy foam reducing insulator memory effect. To eliminate mechanical and electrical distortion, a special cable clamp holds the pair of cables connected to the preamplifiers. Furutech connectors are the best currently on the market. The rhodium contacts offer very low resistance to signals.
The sound quality is punchy and very detailed. The tonal balance feels right with no higher high mids and treble like some other cables at this price range. The sound stage is precise and very credible. Its gives surprising results with a moving coil cartridge where every centimetre of the conductor counts. Marc Michelson from ‘SoundStage magazine’ has reviewed the cable: 'I can't say whether the Furutech Ag-12 is the best phono cable on the market, but I can say that it's the best I've ever heard. And it's also one of the cheapest I've tried'...
We consider it as a benchmark in this range. Franck
