Description

The Octavio Stream network player is a powerhouse of technology packed into a tiny box.

OCTAVIO STREAM: DESIGN AND CABLE

The Octavio is a network player housed in an elegant ABS casing in white and black. Its "tiny" dimensions might be deceiving, but don't be misled!

On the top, two touch-sensitive "buttons" control playback, pause, and skip functions.

At the back of the device, there's a mini-jack 3.5mm analog output and a Mini-Toslink optical digital output within the same connection. Power is supplied via a USB-C port and a small DC power supply unit.

Due to cost considerations, Octavio comes with only one audio cable. You'll need to choose the appropriate version based on your devices:
- a mini-jack cable (for powered speakers...)
- an RCA cable (for Hi-Fi amplifiers...)
- a mini Toslink optical cable to connect to a DAC

Additionally, Octavio offers an optional cable for wired network connection.

OCTAVIO STREAM: TECHNOLOGY

Internally, Octavio utilizes the Texas Instruments PCM 5102 chip for digital-to-analog conversion. This DAC section fully leverages the audio capabilities of the integrated technology, supporting audio resolution up to 24-bit/192kHz.

The integrated technology features a Linkplay chip, a global standard in connected audio. The circuit board is internally developed, designed with robust and reliable components to ensure long-term reliability. Audio processing is optimized to be immune to electronic or electromagnetic interference.

Furthermore, this technology is built to last for years, supporting numerous updates as streaming services evolve, ensuring the longevity of the Octavio Stream network player.

Octavio's multi-room technology allows grouping of up to 12 Octavio devices to stream the same music across different rooms. In this configuration, the applied audio processing guarantees synchronized, seamless playback in Lossless quality (up to 16-bit/44.1kHz).

OCTAVIO STREAM: CONNECTION

Connection to the router is facilitated via Lossless WiFi, providing at least CD-quality (16-bit/44.1kHz) and reaching Hi-Res format (24-bit/192kHz) for demanding users. A status LED displays during device setup.
It's also possible to connect to a wired network via the optional "Octavio Ethernet" cable.

Octavio enables direct access to major streaming services (Spotify, Qobuz, Tidal...) and online radio, offering unrestricted music enjoyment.

Using UPnP technology, Octavio can also play music stored on your smartphone, computer, or local server (NAS).

OCTAVIO STREAM: INSTALLATION

Setup couldn't be simpler. Once connected to your amplifier, the Octavio Stream network player provides status updates audibly and through the LED indicator.

Prior to this, you'll have downloaded the application (iOS or Android) to your tablet or smartphone. Notably, the application excels, surpassing even some other well-known applications.

OCTAVIO STREAM: REVIEW AND LISTENING

We tested the Octavio Stream network player in two stages.

Initially, we connected it to an entry-level Hi-Fi amplifier (Atoll IN 50 Signature) using an RCA cable. The playback is remarkably transparent with surprising dynamics and openness. Blindfolded, one couldn't guess this product costs only 199 euros!

Next, we connected it to a highly performant digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Within seconds, we were amazed by the playback quality from this compact box! The results are truly impressive.

While sound quality and various parameters (definition, transparency, timbre) depend significantly on the DAC's performance, compared directly with a CD drive through the same DAC, noticeable differences are observed. For instance, the Octavio provides a more expansive and deep soundstage with better delineation of layers.

This "mini" Octavio Stream network player is a revelation! It's designed for music enthusiasts with high-quality entry-level systems looking to adopt streaming in a straightforward and cost-effective manner.

Special mention goes to the application, which perfectly meets user needs with intuitive functionality.

At its price point, Octavio stands unrivaled in terms of features, ergonomics, and musicality. For us, the "made in France" label is a significant plus! It's our top recommendation!

Comment booster l'Otcavio Stream
