Thirty kilograms of aluminum, dual motors, eight Silencers, and a 12-inch tonearm built to exploit every detail. The Hurricane Neo and the TA-1000 Neo form an uncompromising pairing, driven by the same obsession with craftsmanship. German precision in its fullest expression.
This configuration embodies the Acoustic Signature philosophy at its most ambitious within the Neo range. The Hurricane Neo is the second model in the brand's Tripod line, an already accomplished turntable that incorporates the majority of the Typhoon Neo's innovations — and the TA-1000 Neo 12-inch is its natural partner. maPlatine.com delivers the whole system mounted, wired and aligned in our workshop, ready to accept the cartridge of your choice.
The Hurricane Neo: tripod, massive, precise
The Acoustic Signature Hurricane Neo presents itself in the form of a three-branched star. Despite remaining an easily accommodated size, it weighs over 30 kg. The 50 mm thick solid aluminum chassis, available in black or natural aluminum, is 30% more massive than previous Hurricane versions, providing a rigidity and mass that limit resonances and vibrations to a maximum. The chassis rests on 3 sorbothane gel-damped feet, with a precise and simple height adjustment.
The 50 mm solid aluminum platter, weighing 11 kg, features 8 Silencer modules that increase inertia and reduce internal resonances. A fiber/carbon composite damping mat completes the assembly. The platter spins on an ultra-precise DTD® spindle housed in a virtually indestructible Dura Turn Diamond® bearing, guaranteed for 15 years. This mechanism sets a new benchmark in maintenance, residual noise and longevity.
Belt drive is entrusted to two silent 2-coil / 24-pole AC motors, controlled by AVC Level I technology exclusive to the Neo range. This real-time digital correction of motor signal phase shifts neutralizes the primary cause of residual vibrations in synchronous motors. An independent control unit connected to the ultra-stable multi-voltage external DMC-20 power supply manages start-up and speed selection between 33 and 45 rpm.
The TA-1000 Neo 12-inch: precision, musicality, durability
The TA-1000 Neo is the second tonearm in the Acoustic Signature range, designed and manufactured in Germany with the same standards as higher-end models. Its 12-inch version offers an effective length of 270 mm with an effective mass of 12.3 g — a versatility that is particularly appreciated for those who wish to evolve their installation over time. It accommodates both MM and MC cartridges, though the latter are especially recommended on a tonearm of this quality.
The double-layer carbon tube ensures rigidity and damping. High-precision miniature ball bearings on a stainless steel spindle offer flawless tracking. The solid brass counterweight provides the necessary mass with natural damping, and the side-weight anti-skating puts its faith in lasting simplicity: no spring to wear out, no adjustment to redo.
The solid aluminum headshell accepts the vast majority of cartridges on the market and allows precise overhang adjustment. Mogami internal wiring, 24k gold-plated connectors, Audioquest PSC Din 5-pin/RCA cable included. REGA 3-point and SME mounts, both with precise VTA adjustment, included.
Listening: power, neutrality, inevitability
From the very first tracks, we are struck by impressive transients that give playback a remarkable realism. The neutrality of the mechanics leaves no sonic signature and allows the full potential and all the characteristics of the associated cartridge to be exploited. The Hurricane Neo delivers full and deep bass frequencies, dynamics and articulation that are uncommon at this price point, and a fabulous precision and transparency across the entire spectrum.
The TA-1000 Neo adds to this a clarity and fluidity that make listening immediately pleasurable. It keeps the cartridge perfectly in the groove without adding any coloration. No icy analysis, no demonstration: just an honest transmission of what the cartridge reads in the groove. On a solo voice, the presence is striking. On an orchestral work, the reading is clear without becoming so analytical as to lose the emotion. Dynamics are exceptional and accompanied by fine nuance and remarkable fluidity. The soundstage is generously wide and surprisingly precise.
The Acoustic Signature Hurricane Neo is built without compromise, combining a sublime design with exceptional playback capabilities. A combination that leaves little room for the competition.
FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Hurricane Neo Silver + TA-1000 Neo 12-inch package
What does this package include?
The package brings together the Hurricane Neo in natural aluminum (silver) finish and the TA-1000 Neo 12-inch tonearm.
How much does the system weigh and what kind of furniture is required?
The Hurricane Neo alone weighs over 30 kg, with a 50 mm-thick solid aluminum plinth. Despite its relatively compact footprint and still manageable size, a sturdy support rack is required, along with space for the separate control unit and the DMC-20 power supply.
Which cartridges are compatible?
The TA-1000 Neo is compatible with both MM and MC cartridges, although MC cartridges are particularly recommended for a tonearm of this quality. The solid aluminum headshell accommodates the majority of cartridges on the market.
