The Acoustic Signature Verona Neo is the most advanced model in the German manufacturer’s “Classic” range. It features a rectangular shape with either a wood veneer or lacquered finish. It combines highly sophisticated technology with extremely high performance.
Acoustic Signature Verona Neo: plinth and platter
The Acoustic Signature Verona Neo features a classic design but with imposing dimensions (55 x 45 cm), clearly showing that this turntable is designed to accommodate one or two 9-inch or 12-inch tonearms. It also has a substantial weight of 33 kg (without tonearm). The plinth is available in two superb finishes: Makassar wood veneer or piano black lacquer with seven layers of finish.
The Acoustic Signature Verona Neo perfectly combines ultra-modern technology with timeless styling. The chassis uses a highly sophisticated and massive multilayer construction composed of MDF, steel and plywood layers bonded together under pressure using a specific flexible adhesive.
The Verona Neo rests on three sorbothane gel-damped feet. Height adjustment is provided and is both precise and easy to use. On the left side of the plinth is the control panel for powering the turntable on and selecting speed. The Verona Neo supports both 33 rpm and 45 rpm playback.
The platter is machined from solid aluminum with a thickness of 50 mm and a diameter of 310 mm, giving it a mass close to 11 kg. It incorporates eight polished brass “Silencer” inserts and features a carbon plate underneath. The platter is topped with a rigid damping composite mat with a carbon-style finish.
The platter uses an ultra-precise and extremely rigid DTD® spindle integrated into a diamond bearing system (Dura Turn Diamond® bearing). This ultra-rigid and virtually indestructible bearing creates ideal conditions for exceptional sound reproduction and sets a new benchmark for maintenance-free operation, low noise and long-term durability, backed by a 15-year warranty.
Acoustic Signature Verona Neo: electronics and drive system
The platter is driven by two motors and two belts. All rotating motors generate vibrations that are inevitably transmitted to the chassis, platter and tonearm, negatively affecting playback quality. Traditionally, manufacturers address this issue through chassis and platter damping and by optimizing the drive system and motor selection. However, for cost reasons, few manufacturers adopt a truly comprehensive approach.
Acoustic Signature has chosen to go beyond these limitations. In addition to innovative technologies such as Silencer and CLD (Constraint Layer Damping), the brand developed a silent AC motor with an ultra-stable multi-voltage external power supply. This system is paired with a digital motor controller integrating Level 3 AVC technology (Automatic Vibration Control), one of the key innovations of the Neo range.
The AC motors feature two coils and 24 poles. A 90-degree phase-shifted sine wave signal is applied to rotate the coils. As with all synchronous AC motors, manufacturing tolerances prevent perfectly accurate positioning of the poles and coils, which is one of the main causes of vibration.
This is where AVC/3 technology comes into play. It automatically measures and corrects motor signal phase shifts in real time and entirely automatically. These digitally applied corrections drastically reduce vibrations.
Depending on the drive system and the number of motors used, AVC technology is implemented in three different levels. Level 3 represents the highest level of performance using dedicated software and components, and this is the version implemented in the Acoustic Signature Verona Neo.
The motors are controlled by electronic oscillators, allowing easy selection between 33 rpm and 45 rpm speeds.
Acoustic Signature Verona Neo: tonearm choice
Like all Acoustic Signature turntables, the Verona Neo is supplied without a tonearm. It can accommodate one or two 9-inch or 12-inch tonearms. However, we recommend pairing it at minimum with an Acoustic Signature TA-2000 Neo 12-inch tonearm.
Acoustic Signature Verona Neo: sound performance
The Verona Neo stands out with remarkably fluid sound reproduction. It also delivers exceptionally lively and dynamic performance. In this respect, its dynamics are impressive even when paired with a mid-range tonearm.
The Acoustic Signature reproduces music with great ease and naturalness, making it difficult to stop listening to records. It also offers excellent neutrality and remarkable realism, transporting the listener directly into the recording studio or concert hall.
The Verona Neo effortlessly creates a vast soundstage that remains extremely precise and well-defined. Its exceptionally well-built chassis allows the tonearm to fully express its capabilities. Whatever the budget, it is always preferable to choose the best tonearm possible, even if it means compromising slightly on the cartridge, which is ultimately a consumable component.
The Acoustic Signature Verona Neo offers outstanding build quality, while remaining simple, intuitive and highly effective in everyday use.
FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Acoustic Signature Verona Neo turntable
What finishes are available?
The Verona Neo is available in two stunning finishes: Makassar wood or 7-layer piano black lacquer.
How many tonearms can be mounted, and what size should be considered?
The Verona Neo allows for the installation of one or two tonearms in either 9-inch or 12-inch formats. Its dimensions are substantial (55 × 45 cm), and it weighs 33 kg without tonearms. A sturdy and properly designed support furniture is therefore required.
Which tonearm is recommended for the Verona Neo?
Like all Acoustic Signature turntables, the Verona is supplied without a tonearm. We recommend pairing it with at least an Acoustic Signature TA-2000 Neo 12-inch tonearm. It is always preferable to choose the best possible tonearm and, if necessary, make a compromise on the cartridge, which is ultimately a consumable item.
What sets the Verona Neo apart technologically?
The Verona Neo features Level 3 AVC technology, the highest level in the range, using dedicated software and components for maximum vibration control efficiency. Its 50 mm (11 kg) aluminum platter is fitted with eight polished brass Silencer modules, and the Dura Turn Diamond® bearing is guaranteed for 15 years.
