The Double X Neo Black: piano lacquer as statement

The Double X Neo is one of the most aesthetically refined turntables in the Acoustic Signature catalogue. Its 7-coat black piano lacquer requires extensive hand work and produces a visual finish rivalling what high-end piano makers achieve. A finish that demands little maintenance but rewards the eye at every listening session.

Under the lacquer, the Double X Neo conceals a sophisticated multilayer construction: three layers of MDF, steel and plywood press-bonded with a specific flexible adhesive. This technique, inherited from the Verona Neo, neutralises structural resonances that single-material approaches can't address. Total weight: 24 kg for 44 x 35 cm.

The 50 mm aluminium platter / 10.3 kg hosts 8 polished brass Silencers for maximum internal dissipation. The DTD® spindle integrates into the Dura Turn Diamond® bearing, with 15-year warranty. The AC motor with 2 coils / 24 poles is driven by Level 1 AVC technology, digitally correcting motor phase shifts in real time. Sorbothane feet, side 33/45 rpm control panel, DMC-20 power supply via RJ45.

The TA-1000 Neo 9-inch: the right measure

The TA-1000 Neo is the second arm in the Acoustic Signature range, and it's one of the two references recommended by the manufacturer for the Double X.

In 9-inch version, it shows an effective length of 239.3 mm for an effective mass of 9.3 g. This geometry exactly matches the Double X chassis proportions and preserves a sober and balanced silhouette, perfectly coherent with the visual rigour of the black lacquer. Its effective mass makes it particularly well suited to high-end MC cartridges, without excluding the most demanding MMs.

Its double-layer carbon tube provides rigidity and damping, its high-precision miniature ball bearings with no play on stainless-steel shaft guarantee perfect tracking, and its casing-enclosed anti-skating ensures lasting adjustment, sheltered from accidental handling.

The solid aluminium headshell accepts most cartridges. Mogami studio-grade copper wiring, 24k gold-plated connectors, supplied Audioquest PSC DIN 5-pin/RCA cable. REGA 3-point and SME mounts included, both with precise VTA adjustment.

The Double X Neo offers a signature where silence is the most immediately perceptible element. The noise floor is exceptionally low, letting the most tenuous details surface. The soundstage unfolds with surprising depth, and section separation is remarkably clear.

The TA-1000 Neo 9-inch complements this foundation with a clear and fluid approach, free of added coloration. It holds the cartridge in the groove with remarkable stability, lets every detail come through without emphasising any of them, and conveys dynamics naturally. Its fluidity is particularly notable: the music breathes, transitions flow seamlessly, listening remains pleasant over time.

On vocals, the realism is striking. On large orchestral works, analysis remains emotional. Sibilants are fully controlled, transients precise without aggressiveness.
