PRO-JECT DEBUT PRO: DESIGN
The Pro-Ject Debut PRO turntable offers a new design very different from the Austrian manufacturer’s previous creations. The surprising design is highlighted by CNC milled aluminium parts with a nickel finish.
The manufacturing process allows to produce very high-quality and sustainable components and avoid using plastics which often degrade sound quality when they age.
PRO-JECT DEBUT PRO: PLATTER
The new Debut PRO platter is a first on any Pro-Ject turntable.
The die-cast aluminium platter is reworked and precision balanced in an extra step to obtain an evenly spinning platter. It is anti-magnetic, allowing low output MC cartridges to work properly on the Debut PRO.
The anti-magnetic heavy aluminium platter has a ring made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) on the inside that helps to dampen all resonances and minimizes wow and flutter. It’s designed for perfect combination with the new Record Puck PRO clamp available as an option.
PRO-JECT DEBUT PRO: MOTOR
The electronically regulated synchronous motor drives the platter and guarantees the most accurate and stable speeds.
You can easily change speed with the toggle switch. For 78 rpm, a specific round belt (supplied) and stylus (optional) are required.
PRO-JECT DEBUT PRO: TONEARM AND PHONO CABLE
The tonearm bearing is a completely new design. It is CNC machined with precision out of a single block of aluminium which undergoes a nickel finish treatment. This increases the rigidity of the bearing, ensuring free and fluid movement of the tonearm and thus precise tracking.
The new 8.6 PRO tonearm consists of a one-piece carbon-aluminium sandwich tonearm. The carbon layer provides the tonearm with a high degree of rigidity, while the inner aluminium tube takes over the damping of the tonearm. This makes the tonearm perfect to be upgraded with higher-end MC cartridges.
The newly designed Pro-Ject 8.6 PRO tonearm allows you to adjust both the azimuth and the vertical tracking angle (VTA) by loosening the two grub screws. These settings give you the option of adapting the tonearm to height changes allowing the use of different platter mats or cartridges.
The Pro-Ject Debut PRO is delivered with a 123 mm Connect It E RCA phono cable. You can connect it to the turntable via the gold-plated female RCA connectors.
PRO-JECT DEBUT PRO: PHONO CARTRIDGE
Intensive research, development and listening tests have led to the creation of the new Pro-Ject Pick it PRO cartridge. This was possible thanks to the brand’s close relation with Danish manufacturer Ortofon.
Experience and the art of fine-tuning make this MM cartridge unique and special. It’s technically different from an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge (output level, tracking force, internal inductance…), only the stylus remains the same.
PRO-JECT DEBUT PRO: TESTING AND LISTENING
As expected, the reproduction is closer to the Pro-Ject X1 than the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO. Indeed, the Pro-Ject X1 has a similar design to the Debut PRO aside from the acrylic platter.
There’s more transparency than with the Debut Carbon EVO. Details and nuance seem clearer as well. The precision of the soundstage is stunning for a turntable of this range.
Compared to its little sister, the Debut Carbon EVO, the main difference is certainly the dynamics and the substance of the Debut PRO. On this front, it even seems to be a little better than the X1. Nevertheless, some people might prefer the chill and full-bodied side of the latter.
In terms of technology and sound, this Pro-Ject Debut PRO turntable is a lot closer to the Pro-Ject X1 than the Debut Carbon EVO. It may even be too “close” to the X1, but the Debut PRO is truly magnificent and very effective!

Une première platine au top.
Je me suis acheter cette platine sur conseil de maplatine. Et franchement j’en suis super ravie. Les qualités de cette platine est top. Et le réglages fait par maplatine est parfait pour un néophyte comme moi. Je recommande maplatine pour leur sérieux et leur conseils. Merci.
Nouveau dans le monde du vinyle
Je voudrais commencer par remercier l'équipe de maplatine.com qui m'ont bien conseiller et on pris le temps de répondre à toutes mes questions. La livraison est super rapide et soignée (platine tres bien protégée et en plus déjà réglée). Je conseille vraiment ce site pour un achat de platine ou autre. Ensuite la platine est maginifique et le son est superbe avec des basses présentes et claires. Les instruments et la voix se détachent bien on entend tous les détails. Juste un petit bémol concernant le poids de l'antiskating qui tombe en manipulant le bras (l'encoche n'est peut-être pas assez profonde ?). Merci à toute l'équipe très satisfait d'avoir passé commande sur ce site
Decouverte d'un nouveau monde
J'ai commandé cette platine avec un pré-ampli Phono Box S2 Ultra et la commande m'a été livré très rapidement avec tous les éléments réglés par l'équipe de maPlatine.com.
Le raccordement à ma chaine a donc été facile et rapide à réaliser. Dès la première écoute, j'ai redécouvert mes anciens vinyles avec une profondeur et une précision dans les détails que je ne connaissais pas. Qu'est-ce que cela sera lorsque le rodage des éléments sera effectué?
Je recommande vivement cette platine dont le rapport qualité/prix est très bon. Le pré-ampli avec ses éléments discrets doit également participer au bon résultat.
