With this one Pro-Ject T1 turntable, the Austrian manufacturer wanted to democratize its range of turntables, while offering a reference level of manufacturing and playback quality for the price.
Of course, this involves carrying out a turntable deck Made entirely in Europe and competing against "Made in China" competitors! And that is commendable, but not necessarily easy...
Pro-Ject T1: chassis and finish
The assembly rests on a lacquered or veneered MDF baseboard, depending on the finish. It is rigid and not very sensitive to resonances.
There is no plastic that spoils the "party," unlike some of its competitors.
Absorbing feet help to limit vibrations of the support in the vinyl turntable.
We have in hand the wood finish of this Pro-Ject T1. And we must admit that this "small" turntable looks great! The wood finish is worthy of models costing twice as much.
Pro-Ject T1: platter
For economic reasons, Pro-JectOpted for an 8mm thick glass top for this one T1.
It is known that in terms of resonance, glass is not the best choice. However, it has several advantages: it is easy to machine and to make perfectly flat, its mass gives it excellent inertia, and its appearance is very stylish! All of this at an affordable price…
Pro-Ject Note, however, that a treatment of the silica has helped to limit the resonances of the platter. And above all, the sub-platter is insensitive to resonances.
The shaft and bearing are made of stainless steel and brass. They are machined with a tolerance of 0.001 mm !
Pro-Ject T1: tonearm and phono cartridge
The arm retained by the manufacturer is none other than that of the Essential II turntable, but here in a somewhat simplified version.
This 8.6“ long arm is made of perfectly machined aluminum from a single piece. It is equipped with low-friction bearings.
Les câbles phono conçus par Pro-Ject are captive but of excellent quality. They receive very effective shielding and offer very low resistance and capacitance.
Standard, the Pro-Ject T1 is mounted with the famous Ortofon OM5e cartridge. This cell is now a classic and it allows for future upgrades via a stylus OM10.

The soundstage is not the widest on the market but it is realistic and precise.
We also appreciate the smoothness of the message and the excellent overall balance.
You got it, this Pro-Ject T1 turntable, At this price, it's a bargain! And above all, it helps to stand against soulless and unmusical entry-level products that only bring disappointment to users.
Recommended for discerning music lovers but with limited means !

Énorme
Pour une platine entrée de gamme (voir milieu de gamme pour ma part), je trouve que le son son est vraiment génial. Un plaisir de pouvoir réécouter ses vinyles
Satisfait
Très beau design, j’avais choisi la finition walnut . La platine est pré réglée et c’est très agréable de pouvoir brancher et écouter ses vinyles sans galérer. L’équipe ma platine est vraiment disponible, la communication, les délais, le suivi, tout est parfait. Concernant le son je suis très satisfait mais je n’ai pas trop de recul car étant novice ou presque (j’ai fait mes armes sur la platine d’un ami une Thorens TD 160 super…).
Le seul petit point négatif de cette project T1 semble être la manipulation du capot. En effet, la platine étant relativement légère, il est difficile de rabattre le capot pendant la lecture sans la faire bouger…
Mais pour une entrée de gamme je pense avoir fait le bon choix !

Content de retrouver mes vieux vinyles (après nettoyage SPIN CLEAN) avec une très bonne qualité de son.
