SUMIKO PALOS SANTOS PRESENTATION LOW OUTPUT MC CARTRIDGE: TECHNOLOGY
The Sumiko Palos Santos Presentation low output MC cartridge features a Brazilian rosewood housing. The housing is handcrafted and optimised to provide ultra low resonance frequency. It limits resonance in the audible spectrum. The moving system consists of a line-contact Microridge stylus. This stylus is paired with an ultra-rigid long-grain boron cantilever.
The whole set is located inside an uncompromising machined aluminium cradle and surrounded by a milled Teflon back plate. This design provides maximum rigidity and minimum unwanted resonance around the generator.
It allows to limit unwanted colouration and parasitic resonance.
The output level is rather high for a cartridge of this range. It will therefore require an excellent-quality phono preamplifier having a gain of around 60 dB. The compliance of around 13 µm/mN (10 Hz) will require a tonearm with average effective mass between 10 and 15 g.

The setup is pretty easy and doesn’t require any particular attention. You only need to take into account the specifications of your cartridge and tonearm.
Midrange is not providing any confusion or distortion. The instruments and their nuances are perfectly reproduced with superb clarity while maintaining a natural warmth and very realistic timbre.
There are also airy and controlled high frequencies. The Palos Santos Presentation MC cartridge favours a stunning 3D reproduction. The low end of the spectrum sings the praises of the analogue. Low frequencies are soft, but also dynamic and very textured. They also fill the space in an unusual way without being invasive.
The phono cartridge strives to reproduce an extra soul unlike the competition, but without hiding or distorting the music signal in any way.
