Description

In 1958, Ortofon launched the famous SPU stereo cartridge. Today, many music lovers around the world have remained loyal to this cartridge for over half a century! The Ortofon SPU remains the only stereo cartridge produced continuously for so many years! The SPU has an unrivaled reputation for analog sound reproduction.

Ortofon SPU GTX E: Body

The “unibody” housing is molded in one piece from a glass fiber reinforced copolymer specially selected for its rigidity characteristics. This is the first time that Ortofon has used this technology, which makes it possible to obtain a stable, rigid housing with little resonance.

Ortofon SPU GTX S: Diamond and generator

The GTX E SPU shares the same configuration as theOrtofon SPU GTX E, but here with a spherical profile diamond with a raccording to R 8/18 μm. This is mounted on an aluminum cantilever. It is associated with OFC copper coils. The Ortofon SPU GTX E cartridge is handcrafted by specialist technicians at the Ortofon factory in Denmark.

Ortofon SPU GTX S: Technologie

The SPU GTX S offers the best of both worlds, combining the musicality and tonal richness that have defined Ortofon's SPU series for decades with the latest innovations in audio technology.

The SPU GTX series is designed to simplify audio installation without compromising sound quality. The constructor to add a step-Up in the cell itself!

Ortofon has chosen to develop new step-up transformers in collaboration with the famous company Lundahl Transformers.

With these step-up transformers (one per channel) built into the body, this cartridge can connect directly to any MM phono stage or amplifier with the same ease as a moving magnet cartridge. No additional equipment is required.

The integrated MC step-up transformer ensures high output and low noise, while preserving the reproduction of classic SPU cells.

Ortofon SPU GTX S : Restitution

From the first bars, we find “the warmth” and the organic side of the SPU Vintage cartridges. The restitution is very balanced and soft while remaining detailed and dynamic.

The use of transformer gives a lot of nuance and subtlety. The soundstage is wide and very spacious. With an excellent phono preamplifier, we obtain a low end that is impressive in its breadth and articulation.

The Ortofon SPU GTX S will delight all music lovers nostalgic for the analog sound of the past century. But not only that, because the addition of the Step-Up offers undeniable musicality and a reproduction of great refinement.
