Focal Vestia N°1 bookshelf speakers

This new line Vestia comes after the lineage of the speakers FocalChora.

The particularity of the series Vestia, is centered around a new speaker and a new slate-colored diaphragm. The latter is named by the manufacturer "Slatefiber."

The series Vestia is represented by 4 models ofHi-Fi speakers : three pairs of columns and one pair of bookshelf.

They offer a contemporary design quite different from the previous range.

FOCAL VESTIA N°1: SLATEFIBER TECHNOLOGY

LaFocal Vestia N°1 is a speaker 2-way Bass reflex. The mid and low frequencies are reproduced by a 16.5 cm speaker, equipped with the Slatefiber cone.

The Slatefiber technology, exclusive to the brand Focal, consists of using non-woven recycled carbon fibers, applied in a sandwich between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. These fibers are oriented in the same direction to achieve even more rigidity and better damping. Manufactured in France using a very sophisticated industrial tool, this very lightweight membrane with a "slate" effect provides more damping and rigidity than a cellulose membrane.

FOCAL VESTIA N°1: SPEAKERS

The mid/bass driver is loaded in Bass/Reflex via a port opening on the front face of theFocal Vestia N°1 speaker. It is equipped with a Slatefiber membrane made of recycled carbon fibers.

It is relayed in the high frequencies by a 25 mm TAM tweeter. It features an aluminum/magnesium (Al/Mg) alloy diaphragm with an M profile. This exclusivity Focal offers a less directive reproduction while remaining smooth and precise, with remarkable bandwidth in the high frequencies up to 30 kHz.

The suspension of this transducer that connects the dome to its support is made of Poron. This memory foam suspension is directly derived from the famous Utopia Beryllium tweeter. It allows for a threefold reduction in distortion in the most critical area between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz. The inverted dome also helps to limit directivity and increase spatialization.

FOCAL VESTIA N°1: CASE

Like the entire range Vestia, the Focal Vestia N°1 has been aesthetically completely redesigned. The enclosure is made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF). It is covered with a faux leather coating applied to the front, top, and rear faces of the speaker. The sides are covered with a wood-grain veneer that varies depending on the finishes.

The speakers are hidden behind a fabric cover with magnetic attachment.

FOCAL VESTIA N°1: INSTALLATION

This Focal Vestia N°1 bookshelf speaker is ideal for rooms of 15 to 25 m².

The connection to the amplifier is made via a simple, well-made terminal block that accepts bare wire, banana plugs, or spade connectors.

A specific foot for these Focal Vestia N°1 speakers is offered as an option. It is angled to meet the "Time Alignment" and to achieve a more precise soundstage centered more on the listener.

But it is possible, for economic or practical reasons, to position them on stands with a height between 55 and 80 cm.

FOCAL VESTIA N°1: TEST AND LISTENING

The playback of this pair of bookshelf speakersFocal Vestia N°1 is very balanced and remains completely within the DNA of Focal. We find the neutrality and transparency of the models that have made the reputation of the French manufacturer. The timbres are relatively smooth and offer excellent texture to the instruments.

We appreciate the presence and realism of the vocals and strings. This presence and realism are also due to the excellent quality of the treble. It is precise and perfectly integrated with the rest of the spectrum, offering surprising clarity and transparency.

The bass is fuller, more expressive, and particularly more dynamic and above all of better quality than on the Chora 806. The top of the spectrum seems softer and less tense. It also brings a lot of life to recordings by never being dark or boring.

La pair of Focal Vestia N°1 bookshelf speakers is a superb pair ofspeakers 2 ways to still credit the French manufacturer. They offer excellent musicality with small, high-quality integrated amplifiers !
