Focal Celestee Hi-Fi headphones

The Focal Celestee headphones combine remarkable design with refined finish and outstanding sound performance. They’re equipped with exclusive Focal drivers ensuring excellent dynamics and high precision sound.

FOCAL CELESTEE: DRIVERS

The Celestee features the last generation of Focal full-range drivers. They were designed to operate in an enclosed volume, while ensuring exceptional dynamics, as well as accurate and low colouration sound reproduction.

Celestee’s drivers are a powerhouse of innovations. The copper coil is frameless and provides a dedicated 110-micron surround.

The membrane is an “M”-shaped inverted dome. This diaphragm, manufactured in the Focal factory of Saint-Étienne, is made of 40 mm aluminium/magnesium! This worldwide exclusive was patented by the brand.

FOCAL CELESTEE: HEADBAND

The aluminium headband of these headphones perfectly moulds to the head while providing excellent grip.

The 20 mm thick earpads are made of semi-aniline leatherette while the headband is made of leather and microfibre. The materials used; leather, solid aluminium and microfibre, are all of very high quality.

FOCAL CELESTEE: EARCUPS

The Focal Celestee insulates perfectly from outside noise and the environment without the need to use (and that’s a good thing!) active noise cancellation.

The earcups have undergone specific acoustic treatment to restrict resonance and achieve uncompromising audio quality: the sound is clean, precise and with good bass extension.

FOCAL CELESTEE: CABLE AND ACCESSORIES

The 24 AWG OFC high-purity copper cable is 1.20 m long (portable applications oblige!). It’s completely detachable.

Regarding the earcups, one end is connected via two 3.5 mm mono jacks. On the other end, Focal chose a 3.5 mm stereo jack but they provided a 6.35 mm stereo adapter as well.

The set is delivered inside a beautiful solid carrying case of excellent quality perfectly protecting the headphones.

FOCAL CELESTEE: TESTING AND LISTENING

Like all headphones or Hi-Fi speakers, musicality depends on the source quality and the medium used.

Moreover, these Focal headphones require a period of run-in before they can offer their full performance. This run-in happens naturally after several hours of listening. If you wish to speed up the process, we recommend you play music with lots of low frequencies for at least 24 hours at relatively high volume.

The Focal Celestee is pretty easy to operate. Even with a music player, it achieves excellent sound level.

Bass is deep, powerful but very nuanced and articulated as well. The sound is accurate and clear across the entire spectrum with a wide and very spacious reproduction.

The very good noise insulation allows the listener to be quickly immersed in music.

The timbres are beautiful, precise and of outstanding richness. No aggressiveness is present in mid-range or treble. The balance is very nice.

Like most products from the French manufacturer, the Celestee Hi-Fi headphones don’t try to charm the listener. They don’t overplay or have a physiological behaviour like other closed-back headphones.

The Focal Celestee Hi-Fi headphones are one of the best closed-back headphones we had the privilege to listen to. Nevertheless, this technology does have its limits and constraints: they’re less precise, dynamic and open than the Focal Clear MG headphones (More information on the Focal Clear MG Hi-Fi headphones). They’re however not designed for the same application and the same user as you may have guessed.

If you’re searching for portable headphones providing wide and refined audiophile reproduction, the Focal Celestee is made for you. Especially when you can’t beat it in terms of comfort and design!
