Feliks Audio Echo Vibe Headphone Amplifier

The Echo Vibe amplifier is the most affordable product from the Polish manufacturer Feliks Audio. This product is the heir to L’Echo 2 which remains the brand’s best-seller.

Feliks Audio Echo Vibe : Description 

Externally, it differs from the Echo mkII by a more luxurious finish. Its varnished wooden sides give way to a complex pattern milled with a CNC machine, and the cover hiding the toroidal transformer offers a more harmonious shape and it also provides better shielding against interference allowing quieter reproduction.

The front offers a 6.35 mm stereo jack headphone output, a large volume button in the center and a source selector on the right.

On the back of the device there are 3 line inputs in RCA format and a Line output also in RCA. This line output allows the Echo Vibe to be used as a preamplifier associated with a traditional hi-fi power amplifier.

The power stage is entrusted to 6N6P power tubes, “driven” by 6N1P triode tubes. This amp operates in pure OTL therefore without output transformer.

The automatic bias adjustment allows tube wear compensation and also tube change easily without any adjustment.

Internally, the 4 filter capacitors have been replaced by more high-end models in order to offer higher performance.

Each amplifier is entirely manufactured in Poland in the Feliks Audio factory with the greatest care. The assembly is carried out in the air with point-to-point welds. 

Feliks Audio Echo Vibe : Restitution

The Feliks Audio Echo Vibe requires a good twenty hours of break-in before it can deliver its full potential.

The reproduction of many amplifiers is characterized by the output transformer. In fact, it is decisive in the restitution and considerably influences the transparency, the dynamics, the bandwidth and the coloring. But here we are in the presence of an OTL assembly, so the absence of a transformer gives fairly obvious neutrality and transparency.

The restitution is very balanced and does not seem to highlight one register more than another.

The timbres are very beautiful, and the Echo Vibe offers substance without sinking into an exaggeration of “warmth”. The quality of the bass and its quantity do justice to most headphones renowned for their quality in this register.

The Feliks Audio Echo Vibe reproduces vocals with exceptional vocal clarity.

Associated with excellent headphones, the depth of the soundstage is exceptional. It even seems to be greater than the width even if the latter is not lacking.

This headphone amp provides plenty of air between instruments offering superb top-end smoothness.

If you are looking for a very neutral sound in the bass and the mids/treble present defined and organic the Echo Vibe is the best choice you can make. The Feliks Audio Echo Vibe is probably the best tube headphone amplifier (or not) in its price category or even well above that we have had the opportunity to listen to!

This Feliks Audio Echo Vibe also gives excellent results as a preamplifier. It is truly capable of driving an excellent power amplifier with superb musicality.
