The Dual CS 455-1 vinyl turntable is a midrange automatic vinyl turntable that couldn't be more simple or effective to set up and use.
Dual CS 455-1: plinth and platter
It has an entirely wood plinth and a floating sub-platter, as well as an aluminium platter with an antistatic felt platter mat to prevent resonance.
It is driven by a DC motor and flat belt.
Dual CS 455-1: speed change
The Dual CS 455-1 offers three rotation speeds: 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm.
We would recommend replacing the original stylus with an Ortofon OM78 stylus when you wish to listen at 78 rpm.
Dual CS 455-1: tonearm and cartridge
The Dual CS 455-1 is fitted with an aluminium tonearm and carbon fibre headshell, which itself is fitted with an Ortofon OM 10 cartridge.
This tonearm uses a gyroscopic gimbal, which reduces friction to a minimum. It also lets you adjust the tracking force as it has an extremely precise torsion spring in the vertical axis.
The antiskating system is also adjustable using the dial on the tonearm base. This also gives you the option of upgrading the cartridge to a higher end model at a later date, such as the Ortofon 2M Blue.
Dual CS 455-1: listening and review
The sound quality is as good as we have come to expect from the German manufacturer, plunging you head first into the world of analogue sound. It has all the dynamic range, presence and openness of vinyl sound.
The CS 455-1 feels more precise and open than the models in the range below it.
The Dual CS 455-1 vinyl turntable is everything a modern automatic vinyl turntable should be. It offers excellent value for money and is a great option for anyone looking for a high quality and upgradeable automatic vinyl turntable.
We highly recommended it!
