This Pro-Ject vinyl turntable is a semi-automatic version of the famous and much awarded Pro-Ject XPression3.
This 1-Xpression III Comfort has a shutdown system at the end of the record, but no tonearm return to its housing, and that it incorporates a speed change through a dial (it conceals a Speed Box 1) so no more need to lift up the platter!
In addition to all this, it has a maximum optimisation: a base in a medium covered in a dark grey varnish, an 8.6" tonearm with a carbon tube and an aluminium head, a silent 16 V motor and an acrylic platter.
All this technology rests on 3 cones using aluminium and TPE.
To offer a ready-to-use a product, Pro-Ject delivers this vinyl turntable mounted and adjusted with the Ortofon OM10 cartridge.
It is worth noting that the tonearm cables are not captive and so the standard cables can easily be replaced by higher performing models, such as Pro-Ject's 'Connect it' range.
The listening is highly rhythmic and brings the sound quality great energy. The timbre cannot be criticised and seems clearer than on the Debut Esprit, just like the transparency, which is a step above.
We tested a Connect it C cable, and it yielded many details and a better timbre.
This vinyl turntable is very balanced and has a sound, accomplished mechanical construction. It gives unparalleled ease of use in this range.
When contemplating this Pro-Ject 1-Xpression III Comfort vinyl turntable, the first thing that comes to mind is that you get your money's worth! The manufacturing quality is outstanding for this price, as well as the quality of the materials used.
A 'Best Buy' for several years, highly justified.Franck
