Supra Biline phono Phono Cable

Swedish Hi-Fi cable specialist Supra has amongst its products an excellent cut-price cable: the Supra Biline Phono cable.

It is sheathed in the light blue housing that has now become synonymous with the Supra brand itself. This cable is fitted with excellent 24k gold-plated RCA connectors, giving it exceptional contact and conductivity.

Its twisted pair conductors are made of pure copper. The capacitance and resistance of this cable are very low. Supra guarantees signal transfer at almost 70% of the speed of light. It is shielded with an aluminium/polyester screen. This guarantees absolute isolation from vibrations and electromagnetic interference. On top of this technology, it also uses a Y-shaped structure, where the fork ground wire that connects the vinyl turntable and the phono preamp is also connected to one side of the screen. This is why this phono cable is a directional cable, with an arrow that indicates the direction of the signal (turntable -> phono preamp). This prevents blockages in the ground wire and increases shielding. It is worth noting that the audio signal does not travel through the screen.

The internal structure of the Supra Biline Phono is such that it can be used to replace the original phono cables on vintage turntables by brands such as Thorens, Lenco, etc.

We tried it out with both an MM and MC Hi-Fi cartridge. We were impressed by the resulting sound quality, finding it to be significantly better than with the original phono cable delivered as standard with the record players. It delivers significantly more dynamic range and detail – it's as if a veil has been lifted! But the clarity is not overstated -– on the contrary, it emphasises substance and timbre.
