Mc Intosh DA2 Digital Audio Module DAC Card

The DA2 digital audio module is our latest and most advanced module for digital audio processing offered by McIntosh. It comes standard with the C53 and C2700 preamplifiers and the MA12000, MA9500, and MA8950 integrated amplifiers. This module enables these devices to benefit from the latest innovations in digital audio technology.

The McIntosh DA2 digital audio module builds upon the DA1 with an expanded set of features. In addition to having the same connections as the DA1 (2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB, and 1 MCT), a new HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) connection is included in the DA2. This allows it to connect to televisions with a compatible HDMI (ARC) output.

The ARC functionality can provide two-way communication between your DA2-equipped device and your television, allowing volume control and synchronization functions. Multichannel audio formats Dolby® and DTS® are supported and will be converted to 2-channel audio.

The DA2's USB input can support native playback up to DSD512, exceeding the DSD256 limit of the DA1. This improved DSD playback support is due to the next-generation, 8-channel, 32-bit, quad-balanced digital-to-analog converter (DAC).

The audiophile-quality DA2 DAC stands out with its very low total harmonic distortion and a wide dynamic range. The USB input also supports DXD up to 384 kHz. The coaxial and optical inputs can decode digital music up to 24-bit/192 kHz for high-resolution audio playback.

The DA2 is complemented by a proprietary MCT input that offers a secure, custom DSD connection for high-definition audio playback from SACDs when paired with the MCT500 and MCT80 SACD/CD transports.

McIntosh audio products equipped with the DA1 can be upgraded to the newer DA2. Models that can be upgraded to the DA2 include the MA9000, MA8900, MA7200, and MA5300 integrated amplifiers, the MAC7200 receiver, and the C49 preamplifier.

The DA2 is the optional DAC card for the McIntosh C8 preamplifier.

Note: These models will continue to be shipped with the DA1 installed. Upgrading to the DA2 is an optional upgrade and must be installed by an authorized McIntosh dealer or an authorized McIntosh service agency.
