Description

The Atlas Element SPDIF R1 coaxial digital cable is designed to complement entry-level, yet high-quality digital audio systems. It is recommended for connecting a network streamer or CD transport to a digital converter.

ATLAS ELEMENT S/PDIF R1: Features

This 75-ohm S/PDIF digital interconnect cable is engineered to ensure an optimal connection between a high-resolution network streamer or CD player and a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC). This Atlas Cable maintains a constant 75-ohm impedance along the entire signal path, guaranteeing error-free digital transmission. Constant impedance is crucial for digital signal transfer free from jitter and digital distortion. The conductors are made of silver-plated OFC copper, insulated with PEF (foamed polyethylene).

One of the key elements is the connector. Over a decade ago, Atlas recognized that traditional CNC-machined metal RCA plugs presented a weak point, leading to significant performance loss. Their research demonstrated that polycarbonate, and later ABS, provided superior performance for connector bodies. This allowed the creation of a non-conductive, low-mass RCA plug with a low dielectric constant, while retaining the robustness and stability of CNC-machined components. The connection to conductors is made via precision crimping without solder. The cable includes a ground wire with spade terminations. The Element RCA plugs are crimped cold-weld directly to the conductors.

ATLAS ELEMENT S/PDIF R1: Listening Test

The Atlas Element SPDIF R1 digital cable provides a neutral, uncolored sound presentation. The listening experience is remarkably clean and fatigue-free. The Element delivers a very natural, fluid, and detailed performance without any brightness or overly analytical character.

FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Atlas Element S/PDIF R1 cable

What is the Atlas Element S/PDIF R1 digital cable used for?

It is a 75-ohm coaxial digital cable designed to connect a network streamer or CD transport to a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC).

Why is a 75-ohm impedance important?

Maintained throughout the cable length, it ensures error-free digital signal transmission. Constant impedance is essential to prevent jitter and digital distortion.

Can it be used as a standard analogue interconnect?

No. It is a dedicated S/PDIF digital cable designed specifically to carry digital signals between a source and a DAC. It is not intended to replace analogue interconnects.

How does the Element S/PDIF R1 sound?

It delivers a neutral performance without coloration. Listening is clean, fatigue-free, natural, fluid, and detailed without being harsh or overly analytical.
