Description

The Atlas Element S/PDIF R1 coaxial digital cable is designed to complete entry-level digital systems of excellent quality. It is recommended to connect a network player or a CD transport to a digital-to-analogue converter.

ATLAS ELEMENT S/PDIF R1: features

This 75-ohm S/PDIF digital interconnect is designed to provide an optimal connection between a high-resolution network player or a CD player and a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC). By maintaining a 75-ohm impedance along the whole path, this Atlas cable guarantees an error-free transmission of digital signals. Constant impedance is essential for digital transmission free of jitter and digital distortion. The conductors are made of silver-plated OFC copper. The insulation between the signal and the shield braid is made of PEF. One of the essential elements is the connector. More than ten years ago, Atlas found that the traditional RCA connector, CNC-machined with a metal body, had a weak point, with a significant loss of performance. Their research showed that polycarbonate, and then ABS, were higher-performing materials for the connector body. This made it possible to create a low-dielectric-constant, low-mass, non-conductive RCA connector while retaining the robustness and stability of a CNC-machined product. The connection to the conductors is made by crimping, and therefore without solder. The Integra RCA plugs are connected to the conductors without solder (precision crimping).

ATLAS ELEMENT S/PDIF R1: test and listening

The Atlas Element S/PDIF R1 digital cable offers a rather neutral reproduction with no marked coloration. The listening is very clean and completely free of fatigue. The Element delivers a very natural, fluid and detailed reproduction, without any exuberance and without making the listening analytical.

FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Atlas Element S/PDIF R1 cable

What is the Atlas Element S/PDIF R1 digital cable used for?

It is a 75-ohm coaxial digital cable designed to connect a network player or a CD transport to a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC).

Why does the 75-ohm impedance matter?

Maintained along the whole length of the cable, it guarantees an error-free transmission of digital signals. This constant impedance is essential for a presentation free of jitter and digital distortion.

Can I use it as a standard analogue cable?

No. This is a digital S/PDIF cable, designed specifically to carry a digital signal between a source and a DAC. It is not intended to replace an analogue interconnect.

What is the listening quality of the Element S/PDIF R1?

A rather neutral reproduction with no marked coloration. The listening is very clean and fatigue-free, natural, fluid and detailed, without exuberance and without becoming analytical.
