In high-frequency digital transmission, signal integrity is best maintained when all impedances match perfectly: a 110-ohm source impedance, a 110-ohm cable, and a 110-ohm input impedance. Even the connectors—both chassis sockets and cable plugs—must adhere strictly to the 110-ohm AES/EBU standard. Impedance mismatches cause signal reflections, leading to timing errors (jitter). A corrupted digital signal loses fidelity to the original analogue waveform, a issue compounded by standard digital protocols that carry both timing and audio data over the same conductor.
The 0.2 mm² solid-core conductors are made of high-purity copper plated with 5% silver. Silver plating enhances high-frequency conductivity, as high frequencies travel predominantly along the outer skin of the conductor (skin effect). Consequently, the performance of the Audioquest Carbon digital cable approaches that of pure silver conductors at a far more accessible price point.
The conductors are cold-welded to the connectors using a high-current 8,000-amp impulse, eliminating solder-related distortion.
