Sonus Faber Lumina II bookshelf speakers

The Italian brand is offering a new ‘democratic’ range that meets the needs and requirements of less affluent music lovers. The Lumina range currently comprises just 4 hi-fi products: two floorstanding speakers and two bookshelf speakers. The Lumina II is the middle of the range. It's a 2-way speaker in the pure Sonus Faber tradition!

Transparent Hardwired speaker cable - 2x3m - banana plugs

This speaker cable is made up of 2 x 2.10mm2 conductors in oxygen-free copper, to provide maximum definition and dynamics. The twisted construction cancels out noise and avoids signal interference. The Hardwired speaker cable has excellent gold-plated banana plugs.

Yes. The Musical Fidelity B1xi integrated amplifier features a high-quality MM phono input powered by its own dedicated linear supply. You can connect a turntable fitted with an MM cartridge directly (or even a high-output MC cartridge, as its sensitivity allows) with no external phono preamp, and enjoy a very low noise floor.

Are the Musical Fidelity B1xi and Sonus Faber Lumina II speakers well matched?

Yes, that is precisely the logic behind this pack: the amplifier and speakers were chosen to work together. The B1xi delivers 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts into 4 ohms through a Class A/B circuit, with a generous current reserve that lets it drive the Sonus Faber Lumina II with ease, compact speakers designed for medium-sized or slightly confined spaces. In a noticeably larger room, an amplifier offering more power would be worth considering.

How should the Sonus Faber Lumina II bookshelf speakers be set up?

Very easy to place thanks to their compact format, they perform best on rigid stands between 60 and 90 cm high, which produces a remarkable three-dimensional soundstage. They are particularly suited to medium-sized or slightly confined spaces.
