The story of JICO, the Japanese firm, is pretty original and surprising!
This brand founded in 1873 in Hamasaka, about 500 km from Tokyo. During the first part of the 20th Century, JICO was committed to the manufacture of sewing needles for kimonos. In 1949, after the war, JICO turned its attention to the manufacturing and the machining of steel needles for vinyl playback stylus.
In 1966, the plant became more modernized in order to produce stylus with complex profile for modern phono cartridges. Currently, JICO manufactures and assembles about 2 200 models of stylus by hand!
The “JICO” name is very well known to the world audiophile community, as the Super Analog Stylus manufacturer, a rare needle reputed for its quality and its excellent fidelity (Bore and Micro Ridge).
