Idles – Joy as an Act of Resistance (Partisan 2018)

Idles – Joys as an Act of Resistance

Awesome!!! Idles is one of the most exciting bands I have listened to before. I discovered them completely by chance, watching Release Party, the excellent TV show on Arte Concert. And this is with what makes their reputation, i.e. live concert, that I had the chance to listen to them for the first time. To figure out what we are talking about, just recall that the Guardian named them “Best Punk Band from England”. No more and no less! There are no doubts about this, when I listen to my 2 favorite tracks on this LP: “Never Fight a Man with a Perm” or the amazing “Danny Nedleko”. To be urgently discovered. For my part, it is been turning continuously on my turntable for many weeks now!

Lil Peep – Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt.1 & 2 (First Acces 2018)

Lil Peep – Come Over When You’re Sober

Lil Peep, true Hip Hop phenomena, passed away in 2017 because of his excesses, only aged of 21. He leaves a very personal and particularly work present in this double posthumous album. Might as well say it right away, this is a great success and I invite you to take the time to read the lyrics which, just this once, are much deeper that it seems to be at first sight! I recommend you to discover in priority my 2 favorite tracks, to immerse you in his music: « Benz Truck » and « Sex wih my Ex ». Anyway, what a pity for this early death…

Sharon Van Etten – Remind Me Tomorrow (Jagjaguwar 2019)

Sharon Van Etten – Remind Me Tomorrow

Change of register, more soothed… at least in appearance! Under an apparent softness, is drawn a kind of tension throughout this successful LP by Sharon Van Etten, who comes back to us after 5 years of absence (busy years despite her acting activities, the writing of a soundtrack…). I particularly loved the false simplicity in the arrangements which become much more complex progressively during the listening. Special mention for the moving and beautiful “Seventeen”!
