You just can't miss the distinctive and timeless design of Grado headphones… Grado's GS 2000e headphones are very similar to their little brother, Grado's GS 1000e headphones.
They build on all the elements that have made this model and the New York firm so popular. However, they have undergone a number of mechanical, physical and acoustic changes!
Grado GS 2000e: design
They have a vintage leather headband design that makes this product quite unique.
The speaker chambers are made of beautiful natural wood. For these GS 2000e, Grado has merged two wooden pieces of different species: one made of mahogany and the other of maple! This combination makes for great rigidity and keeps unwanted vibration and mechanical distortion at bay.
Grado GS 2000e headphones are very comfortable. They are completely different from the older models! Grado's G-Cushion cushions perfectly fit your ear.
The design is simply amazing; true craftsmanship. The products are assembled by hand in the company’s historic Brooklyn workshop.
Grado GS 2000e: features
The great 40 mm transducers on these GS 1000e headphones have been replaced with exclusive 50 mm versions!
They boast stunning capabilities in terms of frequency response and power handling. They undergo drastic selection and pairing.
The coil wiring of the transducers uses HPLC copper conductors. The lead is also made up of those conductors, except that there are 12 per channel!
Grado GS 2000e: listening and review
This GS 2000e requires a break-in period of around fifty hours for the sound quality to be perfectly consistent.
A decent preamp must be added to it for you to enjoy its full potential.
These Hi-Fi headphones boast amazing transparency and dynamics. We were literally teleported to the recording studio or concert hall!
The soundstage is impressive. You completely forget that you are actually listening through headphones! The sound remains very subtle.
The vocals and the midrange register are reproduced with elegance and authenticity. The details and precision are also a benchmark.
With a great source (analogue), the sonic performance reaches a level that a good pair of speakers worth €10,000 will struggle to match!
These Grado GS 2000e headphones is amongst the most musical Hi-Fi headphones we have ever tried. Amazing!
