INGENIUM is British manufacturer AVID's affordable turntable. It does however meet very strict specifications and an amazing build quality. It features some of the elements of the famous DIVA II turntable, combined with a minimalist yet avant-garde design to reduce costs.
It features the Diva's aircraft-grade Carbide/Sapphire bearing. The chassis comprises 2 separate aluminium sections with elastomer damping. The feet also contribute to its neutrality. The motor is also derived from the DIVA II. Except that it is housed in an anti-vibration housing. AVID has opted for the excellent Pro-Ject 9cc tonearm, which also features on the LINN LP12 Majik. It therefore makes it compatible with great MM and MC cartridges. It comes as standard with a NAGAOKA MP110 cartridge.
This turntable delivers a highly stable and precise sonic performance. The dynamics are absolutely amazing. The soundstage has a three-dimensional effect for classical pieces and excellent live recordings. It is safe to say that this AVID Ingenium delivers great analogue sound with extra swing and a frantic rhythm!
AVID's venture into the affordable product segment is a complete success! The 'plug & play' technology on this turntable is also a nice bonus! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
