NUPRIME D-STREAM PRIMO HD: CHASSIS

The NuPrime D-Stream Primo HD streamer consists of a small black box integrating a large start button on top.

An acrylic band receives a back-lightening that changes color according to the connection status of the device.

At the back of the device, we find a micro-USB connector for the power supply (5v/1A). The audio analogical output is on a 3.5 mm stereo jack socket. NUPRIME D-STREAM PRIMO HD: APPLICATION

The D-Stream Primo HD of NuPrime is operated with the D-Stream Air application.

This application can be download on a iOS/Android tablet or smartphone. It allows the device to be connected to the network, set up and manage playback. It gives access to the shared audio files on the local network and to online musical services such as Qobuz (in 24 bit at 96 kHz Hi-Res quality), Deezer, Tidal, Napster, Spotify... as well as web radios.

The application allows the D-Stream Primo HD to be associated with multi-room D-Stream products. You can create a multi-cast system and manage up to 10 independent listening zones.

NUPRIME D-STREAM PRIMO HD: OUTPUTS

The D-Stream Primo HD streamer includes a S/PDIF digital audio output, compatible with all amplifiers equipped with a DAC or an external DAC. HD music is delivered up to 24 bit and 96 kHz.

However, there is an analogical output, but its quality destined it mostly for a combination with small-amplified speakers.

For a Hi-Fi listening, we recommend you to use a quality DAC. Indeed, it is possible to stream Hi-Res audio files up to 24 bit at 192 kHz, including from Qobuz.

And, via the digital output, it is possible to take full advantage of an excellent DAC compatible with Hi-Res files.

NUPRIME D-STREAM PRIMO HD: TEST AND LISTENING

The restitution is really transparent and detailed. This network player reproduces the smallest details, with a lot of nuances and subtlety.

The dynamics are surprising and the impacts are controlled. The bass is bluffing by its depth and its legibility. The medium offers surprising presence and realism.

You will have understood that the restitution quality is closely linked to the DAC quality to which it is connected. The performances are already very convincing with a small Cambrige Audio Dac Magic 100... However, the D-Stream Primo HD can be surprising with a high-end converter.

Without going as far as the Bluesound Node 2i network player, the NuPrime D-Stream Primo HD offers outstanding performances for this price. After many hours of listening, we can affirm that this network player has no competition in this range!
