Fostex TH-900 MK2 Hi-Fi headphones

The Fostex TH-900 MK2 headphones represent the second generation of the TH-900, one of the most famous dynamic Hi-Fi headphones on the market. It represents all the know-how of the Japanese manufacturer.

FOSTEX TH-900 MK2: CHARACTERISTICS

In order to have the widest possible dynamic range, the engineers designed a magnetic circuit based on powerful neodymium magnets (15000 Gaus!).

The transducers use a wide 50 mm membrane called "dio-dynamic" (cellulose).

The conductors have been changed.

The cable supplied with the TH-900 MK2 is the ET-H3.ON7UB. They are now removable, allowing them to be, among others, replaced if necessary by symmetrical models.

They use 7N OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) conductors to avoid any alteration over time.

The 3.5mm Jack connector is made of gold-plated Duralium (aluminium/magnesium/manganese alloy). The earphone connectors are Rhodium plated.

Note that these audio headphones come with a convenient wooden support, a case and a storage box.

FOSTEX TH-900 MK2: housings

The wood constituting the housing is a Japanese cherrywood (Betula Grossa). This one is very strong and dense. It is known for its excellent acoustic performances.

The housings have a beautiful red "Urushi" lacquer, made with all the rules of the art by Japanese craftsmen. This lacquer is a success and gives very precious aspect to these TH-900 MK2 headphones.

The Fostex logo is printed with a platinum foil.

The pads are very comfortable. They are made of leather associated to egg protein.

FOSTEX TH-900 MK2: ASSOCIATION

The Fostex TH-900 offers an impedance of 25 ohms. It allows you to associated it with several devices.

However, to take advantage of all its qualities, we advise you to equip yourself with a "real" amplifier for audiophile headphones.

FOSTEX TH-900 MK2: TEST AND LISTENING

The restitution is very aerated and open. The definition is present on all registers. The TH-900 MK2 headphones are among the most natural and nuanced headphones we have had the chance to listen to.

Its transparency and neutrality allow it to be used in Mastering.

The bandwidth is impressive (5 hz-45 kHz!) by its width and linearity. We did not detect bumps or hollows in the mid-range, treble or bass.

What surprised us the most were the dynamics and the "physical" aspect with which it reproduces music! In the bass, the bass drums and double basses offer the sensation of being reproduced by a 38cm!

We listened to it for several hours straight, without feel any auditory fatigue. Its comfort is also noticeable.

These new Fostex TH-900 MK2 Hi-Fi headphones are designed for the most demanding music lovers and, why not, for sound records. It remains a reference to us in high-end closed headphones.
