The Atoll AM200 SE is a power amplifier with an ample power capacity of 2 x 120W and a load of 8 Ohms. Its striking 8mm aluminium front panel and 1.5mm-thick metal body ensure that it has more than enough rigidity to ward off unwanted vibrations. The top of the amplifier is perforated for excellent heat ventilation. It can be connected to an Atoll preamplifier (e.g. Atoll PR100 SE preamplifier or Atoll PR200 SE preamplifier) or any integrated amp (e.g. any integrated amplifier in Atoll’s IN range) with a preamp output. If you connect theAM200 SE to an integrated amplifier, it will take on the functionality of a preamplifier, giving you the option, among other things, of bi-amplification.
The Atoll AM200 SE power amplifier has 2 RCA inputs. It can be bridged to create a monoblock amp, which in real terms means that two Atoll AM100 SE power amplifiers can be used, one for each channel. To bridge the AM200 SE amplifier into a monoblock amp, all you need to do is flick a switch located inside the device. Its two toroidal transformers each have a capacity of 330VA and a total capacitance of 62 000 µF. To prevent vibration, resin has been applied to the screws holding the transformer in place.
The speaker terminals accept both fork and banana plugs, as well as stripped cables. The Atoll AM200 SE power amplifier also offers the function of a timer system for switching it on, which consists of a protective relay for the speakers and amplifier output stages (to protect against overcurrent). This relay is activated a few seconds after the device is switched on.
