Description

This QED Reference XLR 40 Analogue balanced interconnect cable implements the manufacturer’s latest research. For QED, this has been the most innovative cable produced for over 25 years! It clearly relies on the characteristics of the famous Reference Audio 40, but in a fully balanced version.

QED REFERENCE XLR 40 ANALOGUE: CHARACTERISTICS

The Reference XLR 40 is designed to provide low capacitance, because QED identified it as a major factor in terms of analogue modulation transmission.

The use of QED’s “Tri-Conductor” technology allowed to limit signal to ground capacitance to vanishingly low levels. The three conductors are made of 99.999% silver-plated oxygen free copper. They have a 0.25 mm2 section. The dielectric consists of foamed PE. The screen is made from a 99.999% OFC outer shield braid providing 100% effective shielding. In order to eliminate any electromagnetic interference, a Zn/Mn floating ferrite jacket was added.

QED REFERENCE XLR 40 ANALOGUE: CONNECTORS

The QED Reference XLR 40 Analogue is equipped with Neutrik XLR connectors from the professional range. The XLR connectors are gold-plated. They are robust and reliable. They are particularly suited to QED’s Tri-ConductorTM geometry due to the additional ground spring contacts, ensuring better shell ground continuity for the unique electrostatic screen which is only connected at the source end of the cable.

QED REFERENCE XLR 40 ANALOGUETESTING AND LISTENING

The result achieved is remarkable for a cable in this price range. We can hear a lot of transparency and depth in the reproduction. There’s also a splendid dynamic range coupled with exceptionally punchy bass! The set is very right and provides very little colouration. Timbres are really beautiful and contribute to provide remarkable realism to modern and old instruments.

This QED Reference XLR 40 Analogue also shows very nice neutrality allowing it to be paired with numerous quality products. This balanced cable offers exceptional value for money.
