Description

The Pro-Ject Phono Box S phono preamplifier is replaced by the Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 phono preamplifier.

The new phono preamplifier of the busy Austrian manufacturer seems very promising in terms of performance! The unit takes after the dimensions of its famous little brother the Phono Box, though it boasts a higher end appearance with the addition of the new more understated front panel adorned with an elegant blue micro led. The back panel features the usual gold-plated RCA inputs/outputs. It also features a ground plug as well as a push button to activate the subsonic filter. The novelty primarily resides on the underside of the plinth, that features two windows housing eight switches per channel. They are used for high precision gain, capacitance and resistance adjustment so that they are perfectly in line with the cartridge used for optimised potential. The components are of excellent quality - and even audiophile - like the Wima polypropylene capacitors and amplification modules. It has a dual mono internal architecture. The performances of this Pro-Ject Phono Box S are truly amazing and are far superior to its predecessors. The sonic performance is of high quality with amazing dynamics and transparency. It boasts full-bodied and precise timbres. This new Phono Box boasts qualities and adjustment flexibility that are completely unique for this price range. Yet another 'Best Buy' for Pro-Ject!

QUEL BOHNEUR
