Following the success of the Naim Audio MU-SO AirPlay speaker, Naim Audio is back with a smaller and more affordable version with greater ambition.
The Naim Audio MU-SO QB speaker is designed as a 21 cm cube. The front panel and two sides are covered with a black jersey grille. The rear panel has an aluminium coating. It is a heat sink to eliminate calories from the amplifier. On the top sits the elegant and efficient button derived from the great MU-SO!
Technically, the MU-SO QB speaker is one of the most elegant connected speakers we have ever tried with the Naim Audio MU-SO! The acoustic section is policed by 7 drivers: 2 tweeters, 2 mid-range, 1 active woofer and 2 passive radiators! They are amplified with four 50 watt modules and one 100 watt module for the bass! All of this fits inside an 8 litre cube! We understand the challenge of Naim Audio's R&D department for the design of the MU-SO QB.
And there is more! In terms of connectivity, it comes with an analogue input, a digital input (optical), a USB input and of course AirPlay, Spotify, TIDAL, BluetoothAPTX, etc… And it also has internet radios. Everything is controlled via the Naim Audio application with an iOS and Android system and it can be paired with up to 5 of the brand's systems. The MU-SO QB speaker features two equalizer settings to optimise the sound quality depending on whether the system is in the middle of the room or against a wall.
From the first minutes into playback, we were impressed with the musicality of this product that oozes the Salisbury manufacturer's DNA! The sound reproduction is stunning for a speaker of this size. Playback is detailed and very punchy. It has the distinctive tempo and swing of Naim Audio products. The bass is incredible… We are often left wondering where it comes from! The same goes for the range and openness that could lead us to believe that we are in front of a hi-fi system with a pair of speakers!
Add to this the outstanding built quality, great ergonomics and amazing connection possibilities! The MU-SO QB speaker comes as standard with a black grille but you can add a colourful twist. All you need is to select an optional coloured grille: dark blue, red and orange.
Could the MU-SO QB speaker be the world's best connected speaker? Yes, certainly if it wasn't for its elder sibling the Naim Audio MU-SO!
Our top pick! We highly recommended it!
