The new CX range by the British manufacturer replaces the famous and well-known Azur range. The Cambridge Audio CXN V2 network player is the only network player of the range. It replaces the famous and rewarded Cambridge Audio CXN. It is designed to extract digital files from streaming platforms, Web radios or NAs, with the best quality possible.

CAMBRIDGE AUDIO CXN V2: FRONT PANEL

We find the beautiful aluminium front panel with the new anthracite grey finish, named “Lunar Grey” by the manufacturer.

In its center, there is a superb color screen that gives track or album information.

On each side of the display there are 4 buttons for direct access to the basic functions (Menu, Play, Tracking). Of course, these functions are accessible on the supplied remote control and on the control application. On the left, there is a USB plug that allows the connection of a digital peripheral. A huge rotative button on the right of the front panel allows you to select the menu.

The back of the device is very complete in terms of connections. The RCA analogical outputs are doubled by XLR symmetrical outputs.

There are also USB digital inputs. SPDIF (RCA) and Toslink (optical) digital inputs are also present.

The first version of the CXN was very successful since it was easy to use and for its audio qualities. Doing better is not necessarily easy and it required Cambridge Audio to make a lot of changes.

Inside, the conversion part is entrusted to a dual Wolfson WM8740 24 bit DAC. There is also a digital filtering with an ATF2 oversampling of the 2nd generation in 24 bit/384 kHz. The ATF uses algorithms to create an analog-style signal curve from an accurate real-time digital signal that is highly representative of the originally recorded analog signal.

The CXN V2 works as a complete audio source. The interface is simple, ergonomic and very intuitive.

The musicality is worth the investment and the technological processed used by Cambridge Audio.

We find a transparent and dynamic restitution, with a nice fullness. The timbres are rich and realistic on HD files. It is sure that the quality of the “streamed” file is important over the restitution quality. All streaming services are different from each other...

The Cambridge Audio CXN V2 network player is one of the best network players for less than 1500 euros. In addition, its symmetrical output allows it to associated to high-level audio elements.
