With MaPlatine.com, trade in your old Ortofon MC cartridges for similar or higher end Ortofon cartridge models.
This Ortofon MC3 Turbo is one of the most affordable high output moving coils that we know. It is the upgrade for the MC 1 Turbo. Like its little sister, its technical and technological characteristics make it a highly versatile cartridge. It is a true MC cartridge with extra coils for a higher output of 3.3mv. This makes it compatible with most preamps and amps that don't have an input for low output cartridges. Its lightweight 4.1 g means it can be used on turntables and particularly on tonearms that cannot bear weights or more than 6 g, like the Project Debut 3 or Debut Esprit. The very fine quality stylus has an Nude elliptical profile. Its body is made of Noryl, a light composite material with great mechanical and damping properties.
After a break-in period of a few hours, the cartridge will deliver a full-bodied and precise sound. It also achieves a fine balance and its timbre quality and realism are superior to those obtained with the MC1. The woofer weight can vary depending on the tracking force exerted on the cartridge. Below 2 g, it is lighter, above this, it becomes more present depending on the tonearm used. The treble is typical of moving coil models, reaching very high frequencies with a lot of definition and no distortion. The sound quality is crisp and the sound stage very realistic and precise for a cartridge at this price. The dynamic range is excellent and brings the sound quality great energy.
A high-end cartridge for demanding music lovers who do not want to break the bank. It does have competitors, but at twice its price. Highly recommended. Franck
