Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus: inputs and outputs

There have been several new versions of the Cambridge Audio Magic 100 DAC . The Dac Magic Plus has one optical input, one coaxial input and one XLR analogue input, as well as one more optical and coaxial output than the Dac Magic 100, giving you the additional option to hook it up to an audio/video amplifier.

The DAC Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus boasts impressive wireless connectivity for its price range. It is also very well-appointed in terms of inputs, with 2 optical inputs, 2 coaxial RCA inputs, and a USB input compatible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0.

And on top of that, it also has upsampling rate capabilities of up to 24 bits/384 kHz!

Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus: functions

And that’s not all! It also has a headphone amplifier and, unlike the Dac Magic 100, a preamp function.

Another significant feature of the DacMagic Plus is that it also functions as a preamplifier, with volume control that can also be used to control the volume of the headphone amp.

Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus: features

It uses two 24-bit Wolfson WM8740 converters, which produce a full-bodied and highly precise sound quality.

Its digital signal processor (DSP) has three different filter functions: linear phase, minimum phase and steep. These three filters are highly sophisticated audiophile features that have been specifically developed to optimise sound quality.

It is also delivered with a mount so you can position it vertically, which is a nice touch.

The Cambridge Dac Magic Plus DAC is undeniably a fully comprehensive and reliable converter. And what’s more, if you use it with the BT100 audio receiver (optional), you can listen to your favourite music through any Bluetooth-enabled device.
