Description

“Pictures at an Exhibition” is a series of 10 musical pieces for piano composed by Modeste Moussorgski in 1874. It is Ravel’s version from 1922 that is the most played today. Inspired by a painting exhibition, this vinyl record was composed as is with interludes representing “the walk” by a visitor form one art piece to another.

Here, this album is interpreted by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra directed by Fritz Reiner and was recorded in 1957 at the Chicago Symphony Centre.

This vinyl record received a Gruvy Award as it is musically and sonically outstanding.

“These are the best vinyl releases of RCA LPs I’ve yet heard. Gorgeous strings, superb bass, avalanche dynamics with that same tape-like ease…” - Jonathan Valin, executive editor, The Absolute Sound.
