The Canadian brand SIM AUDIO offers in its Moon range a new high end network player, the Moon Neo MiND.
Moon Neo Mind: chassis
The Moon Neo MiND network player comes in a “shoe box” format chassis.
The front panel is very elegant in black aluminium. It has three buttons : one for inputs, one Bluetooth, and one standby. There are also red LEDs that indicate the status of the device.
On the back panel, there are 3 digital outputs, a network plug (Ethernet) and two antennas: one for WiFi and the other for Bluetooth.
Moon Neo Mind: connections
The Moon Neo MiND network player does not include an internal converter. You will therefore need to connect it to a DAC, or an amplifier that have coaxial, optical (toslink), or AESBU inputs.
It also offers a wireless aptX™ Bluetooth® connection. This enables a fast, simple, and efficient connection to your mobile devices.
On the other hand, the SimLink™ connection enables you to control all Moon devices that are equipped with it to facilitate the control of all the components of the Hi-Fi system, without having to use an infrared remote control.
Moon Neo Mind: use
The Moon Neo MiND is very simple to use and does not make any compromise in terms of restitution and ergonomics.
An IOS or Android app transforms your smartphone or tablet into an “intelligent” remote control. This gives you a direct access to your music, whether it is on a computer, a NAS, or an online music service.
Moon Neo Mind: testing and listening
The restitution is well balanced and of great finesse.
The soundstage is large and precise. The instruments are perfectly clear. The unison has a nice dynamic and excellent rhythm!
This network player reaches a level of musicality that is rarely seen in this price range. The voices are more present, more tangible, and certainly less “digital” than on competing devices. The rest of the spectrum is treated with fluidity and with a rare respect of the interpretation.
You can fearlessly combine the Moon Neo MiND network player with a high end Hi-Fi system as well as with a more modest system. It enables each and everyone of you to get all the potential out of your system no matter the DAC you use.

Appareil Exceptionnel
Bien qu'étant adepte du vinyl, pour des raisons de praticité, il faut bien en convenir, la dématérialisation est bien utile : accès à un répertoire de musiques immense, très grandes qualités des fichiers disponibles dans tous les genres de musique et enfin facilité d’accès à tout ceci par de simples clics (et une carte bleue, bien sûr).
Je m’intéresse donc à la démat depuis 2012 et après d’assez nombreuses experiences différentes mon choix s’est naturellement porté il y a quelques jours sur ce Mind Neo (« naturellement » car je suis possesseur d’un DAC de la même marque le Moon 280 Neo DSD).
Cet appareil m’a réellement scotché ! J’ai l’impression d’entendre une très bonne lecture analogique ; c’est très huilé, très doux mais aussi très dynamiques, la spatialisation est extrêmement réussie, l’écoute est extrêmement vivante avec une excellente transparence (Sur les bons fichiers !).
A la manière d’une très bonne platine bien réglée, ce lecteur de fichiers permet de donner facilement un âge aux prises de son, oui, une prise des années 50/60 est fort différente d’une bien plus récente et lorsque ces ancien enregistrements sont réussis c’est un enchantement quant à la stabilité de l’image.
Pour parfaire sa sonorité, j’ai posé mon Moon sur une « Solobase » de SSC.
Sans y laisser un bras et un rein, je suis parfaitement satisfait de mon achat qui ne relègue pas cette source numérique au rang des ustensiles inutilisés.
