The Aura Vivid CD player is also a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC). It has two S/PDIF coaxial inputs and a Toslink optical input to connect, for example, a radio tuner, a network player and any other product with one of these digital outputs. The Cirrus Logic 4398 digital-to-analogue converter features on this CD player and enables a conversion with a resolution and sampling rate up to 24 bits/192 kHz on all the digital inputs. To connect it to an integrated amplifier or preamplifier, the Aura Vivid CD player has an RCA stereo output (asymmetrical) and an XLR (symmetrical) stereo output. The XLR symmetrical output is highly recommended when the amplifier or preamplifier has an XLR analogue stereo input. The power supplies work around a toroidal transformer. It is shielded to prevent radiation.
The Aura Vivid CD player features a Sanyo mechanism with Toshiba chipset. The CD is loaded on the right side of the system. It features a series of central buttons to select sources and control of the CD player. On the left is a red LED display. The chrome-plated front panel is stunning. The thick steel housing provides great rigidity and rests on wide feet isolated with rubber.
With an XLR connector and associated for example with the Aura Vita amplifier, the Aura Vivid CD player delivers a wide and full-bodied bass. The mids are perfectly well defined and show no specific colouration. They boast unrivalled dynamics. The digital inputs are a real asset because they make for good 3 source digital to analogue conversion. The Aura Vivid CD player/DAC is a great product, very well designed and with great value for money. Franck
