Atoll IN50se Integrated Amplifier

The Atoll IN50se integrated amplifier is an amplifier that has been designed and manufactured in France. It has a power output of 2 x 50W. It is housed in a 1.5mm-thick metal casing and its front panel is made of brushed aluminium, on which there are 2 buttons for selecting your desired input, as well as a motorised volume dial (with remote control access) in the centre. 

The amp has a total of 4 analogue inputs, one bypass input, one double preamp output and one tape in/out. There is also a 6.35mm jack headphone output on the front panel.

The 4 analogue inputs are as follows: one auxiliary input, one CD input, one Tuner input and one DVD input. The bypass input lets you hook it up to a preamplifier. When you select this input, this integrated amp transforms into a power amplifier. The double preamplifier output lets you connect the Atoll IN50se 2 to one or two power amplifiers, thus transforming it into a preamp! You can also hook up this preamp output to a subwoofer if you're looking for a bit more bass! 

The Atoll IN50se 2 integrated amplifier features an electronic protection system, whereby a standby warning light will blink on and off for a few seconds if the amp exceeds maximum power, then the volume will be lowered automatically. 

Its amplification system consists of fully symmetrical stages with discrete components, and uses MKP technology link capacitors. There are ventilation holes in the top of the device to stop it becoming overheated. The transformer is toroidal and delivers a supply of 160VA. You can either operate your Atoll IN50se integrated amplifier using the buttons on the front panel, or – thanks to its in-built infra-red sensor – via the IN se 2 range remote control. This amplifier opens up a whole range of possibilities. Instead of the aux input, you can insert an Atoll P50 phono stage (for MM cartridges) or Atoll P100 phono stage (for MM or MC cartridges). This will enable you to listen to your favourite vinyl records. If you want to listen to your music through a computer (Mac or PC), you’ll need to insert (also in the aux input) an Atoll wireless card and use an Atoll USB dongle on your computer (optional). Another option is to insert an Atoll S/PDIF card to create a digital input. Please note that only one of these options is available to you at any one time, because each of them require the use of the auxiliary input. 

The Atoll IN50se 2 has been designed to produce the brand’s trademark sound quality. The top end of the spectrum is extremely fine and detailed, without a hint of aggressiveness. The Atoll IN50se 2 integrated amplifier boasts an impressive dynamic range and sense of rhythm, handling loud music well, without any artificial additions. When playing large orchestras, each instrument sound distinct and well placed. This amplifier works very well with entry-level and mid-range bookshelf and tower speakers. It is often paired with the Atoll CD50se 2 CD player to create a cohesive and highly musical Hi-Fi setup.
