It had been several years since the Sumiko manufacturer<\/a> had offered new phono cartridges. For our pleasure, it recently released a brand new MM cartridges range<\/strong>, the Oyster series!<\/p>\n

This very new series<\/strong> is composed of 4 different models: the Rainier, the Olympia, the Moonstone and the Amethyst. Each cartridge is recognizable thanks to a color code on the stylus.<\/p>\n

Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Sumiko Rainier cartridge<\/strong> is the first model available in this MM cartridges new range<\/strong>. Since the box opening, you immediately notice the matt black finish of the cartridge\u2019s body that gives it a nice look. It differs from the 3 other models in the range, thanks to its white stylus.<\/p>\n

\"Sumiko<\/a><\/p>\n

In terms of restitution, this Sumiko Rainier<\/a> is close to the Sumiko Pearl cartridge<\/a>. Indeed, you find once again a soft and natural sound, even \u201cvintage\u201d. If you would like to go further, know that you can improve it over time by changing the stylus by an Olympia stylus<\/a> or even a Moonstone stylus<\/a>. Attractive upgrade perspectives!<\/p>\n

Sumiko Olympia MM cartridge<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Sumiko Olympia cartridge<\/strong> is the second model in the Oyster range<\/strong>. It takes up the black matt body of the series, but associated with a green stylus, distinguishing feature of the Olympia.<\/p>\n

\"Sumiko<\/a><\/p>\n

This Sumiko Olympia<\/a> has an elliptical stylus, thinner than its little sister, the Rainier<\/strong>. This allows it to offer a more dynamic and defined restitution. If you like the \u201cSumiko-like sound\u201d, this Olympia cartridge<\/strong> is certainly made for you!<\/p>\n

Sumiko Moonstone MM cartridge<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Oyster series is completed with a third model, the Sumiko Moonstone MM cartridge<\/strong>. Seen from the outside, it stands out by its red stylus.<\/p>\n

Technically, it is also a bit different from the two first models in the range. The Sumiko Moonstone<\/a> benefits from a more powerful moving magnet<\/strong> effect. You can hear the difference right away when you listen. It offers a fully realistic restitution, even in three dimensions. It is almost like a MC cartridge<\/a>! Impressive!<\/p>\n

Sumiko Amethyst MM cartridge<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Sumiko Amethyst<\/strong> is the fourth and last model in the new range of MM cartridges<\/strong>. Apart from its pretty black matt finish, this Amethyst cartridge<\/a> has nothing in common with the 3 previous models and benefits from all the know-how of the manufacturer.<\/p>\n

Equipped with a \u201cNude Line Contact\u201d stylus, this Sumiko cartridge<\/strong> is even more performing. Its restitution is simply bluffing and has to envy to some MC cartridges! We really love its dynamics, realism or even its musicality. Associated with a good phono preamplifier<\/a>, it is sure that it will work wonders! An outstanding surprise by Sumiko<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

For the American manufacturer Sumiko<\/strong>, it took some time to offer a new MM cartridges range<\/strong>… But regarding to the performances of these 4 phono cartridges<\/a>, we can now say that it was worth the wait! A great success!<\/p>\n
