  Roy Gandy, founder of REGA<\/a>, kindly gave us an interview and talked to us in further detail about the famous British brand and its forthcoming vinyl turntables<\/a> in 2015.   <\/p>\n

1- Your company was founded 40 years ago. Why did you create REGA, what were your ambitions?<\/span><\/h3>\n

I didn’t actually create REGA<\/strong>, the company created itself in a way! Initially, I built speakers and turntables<\/strong> for myself and friends, and then other people starting wanting to buy them\u2026 I don’t particularly like marketing, but it makes me feel very proud and happy when a savvy audiophile buys something that I have made, or made by REGA. <\/p>\n

2- Please name your ‘best-buys’ in 2014 and tell us what made them successful.<\/span><\/h3>\n

That’s a tricky one, because everything that we produced in 2014 became a best seller, with sales on the rise for all ranges! This makes us happy, because in the past four to five years, we have placed a huge amount of energy to develop truly innovative products and new manufacturing processes. \"Produits<\/a> <\/p>\n

3- You witnessed the revival of the turntable. Do you think that it might be a lasting trend or phenomenon?<\/span><\/h3>\n

For REGA<\/a> it is not a comeback, because turntables<\/strong> were never a thing of the past in the first place! They have always been a significant portion of our turnover. Having said that, the demand has risen significantly in four years, and is continuing to grow in 2015. We do not believe that this trend will be reversed any time soon. We are pursuing our investments, in products and workforce alike. <\/p>\n

4- Could you tell us more about the NAIAD (editor’s note: highly exclusive turntable that will be released as a limited edition)?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The NAIAD was never meant to become a commercial product, it was initially designed for experimental purposes. This project has been running for five years and has helped us to confirm our ideas and theories developed over the previous thirty five years. The feedback we got confirmed our plans to invest in the five models in the current range. So the NAIAD<\/strong> gave birth to the cast phenolic resin platter of the RP1<\/a>, the laminated glass platter of the RP6<\/a> and RP8<\/a>, the ultra-light phenolic\/foam sandwich base of the RP8<\/a> and RP10<\/a>\u2026 We got a lot of orders for the NAIAD<\/strong>, though because of the exotic components used for its design (aluminium oxide, carbon fibre, titanium, zirconium..), it can only be produced in small quantities. <\/p>\n

5- How do you see the future for REGA? What are your priorities for 2015?<\/span><\/h3>\n

This year, we are trying to rein in our growth to bring it back to a more reasonable level! To secure our future, we are investing in new manufacturing processes and recruiting young employees for fresh ideas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
